Then it's not the fact that you are connecting through Sky that it causing the problem.

There must be a configuration problem.

Are you sending the VPN traffic to the correct machines IP address?

      I'm at a loss - sorry.

I can only think that there is something on your PC blocking your exit from home - if you opened all ports on the router to 192.168.0.3 and it still didn't connect, then you've ruled out the router, and we know that Sky don't block ports, so...

Re: Instructions for setting up VPN rules on the Sky Router Netgear DG834G

The only option (longshot I know)

That I can think of is that your Works VPN is only allowing VPN access from a Subnet of IP Addresses. If they are given you the Phone Number to dial when at Hotels etc then they may have a range of IP Address that they will allow though (unlikely I know as these will be dynamic more than likely)

If Sky's IP Addresses do not meet ther matched set of IP Addresses set up on the ISA Server Or Firewall of the VPN your connecting to then you won't get in.

Just out of intrest is it a hostname (vpnconnection.mywork.com) or an ip address (192.169.0.1) that you put in to connect too?

If it's an hotsname can you resolve it

      Exit to DOS
      TYPE NSLOOKUP
Enter Name of the Hotsname eg (VPNCONNECT.MYWORK.COM)

You should get back an answer saying something like
      Name: VPNCONNECT.MYWORK.COM
      Address:192.169.0.1

If you don't get an IP Address back it's DNS that's causing your problems. Try changing your DNS Entries to something else example 4.2.2.2

Did you download McAfee and could it be your software firewall tyhat is blocking ports, rather than the router?
