Re: Instructions for setting up VPN rules on the Sky Router Netgear DG834G

Can I have some more information from your guys who are having the VPN Problem?

      I have it working fine...

And at the moment, the way I have mine set is as follows:-

      Phone Socket
      SKY Netgear Router
      Outside IP Address Dynamic
      Inside IP Address 192.168.0.1

Then heres the tricky part (due to me not bothing to re-wire)
I then go into a second Router Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router

Outside IP Address 192.168.0.2 (Staticly Assigned from the Sky Router)
      Inside IP Address 172.16.0.1

      PC's etc then connect onto

PC Being used by Cisco VPN Client gets
      IP Address of 172.16.10.2
      Mask 255.255.255.0
      Gateway 172.16.10.1
      DNS 172.16.10.1
      4.2.2.2

The Version of Cisco VPN Client I have running is 4.0.3(C)
Not sure if that different from you guys.

When I connect onto the Works VPN I get an IP Address assigned as 10.40.100.x or 10.10.100.x dependng on which Firewall I connect onto

Not sure if those who are having problems know what IP Address they get assigned???

I am just wondering if the IP Addresses you get assigned from your Works VPN is conflicting with the ones you use on your own SKY Router??

Re: Instructions for setting up VPN rules on the Sky Router Netgear DG834G

      Interesting....

Since I've moved over to Sky, I've not been able to connect to my works web based email, which I was able to do with my previous ISP. I don't use VPN but it seems the 2 issues appear to be linked in some way. Have emailed Sky tech support & they say it appears I'm trying to connect via VPN, my company says that's not the case.

Anyone got any ideas on what could be causing the issue? Have checked my firewall settings, cookie settings, etc, and all seem to be fine to me.

      HELP!

is there a definitive stance on all this (other than the sky one!!!) - an IT guy i know who set up my office router doesnt see any other reason (other than the reason that im sitting in front of a mac!) apart from sky blocking the service?

I have spoken to Sky Tech support today and they told me VPN IS possable but wouldnt tell me how. He told me to Google it but I'll be dammed if I can find out how to do it........

VPN is most definitely possible on Sky. What are you having problems with?

Without reading all the posts have you opened the ports required in your Sky router?

Re: Instructions for setting up VPN rules on the Sky Router Netgear DG834G

I'm confused why some have problems and others don't.

I now confirm I can connect to the following VPN's.

Cisco PIX 515E VPN using IPSec

      and also 2 different

      ISA Server 2006 STD Edition.

Check and Re-Check your ports. to see if you have nay closed. If all else fails just trying setting your PC up as a DMZ (Only as a Temp measure) and then seeing if you can connect.
