Conclusion: Installation of Sky + and broadband was hasslefree and everything arrived when they said it would, current speed is just under 6mbit I feel it could be a little faster, usually 6.5 - 6.8 mbit with Pipex but early days, I'll keep a eye on it. reason for migration was for tv plus cheaper broadband.

NB: Noise Margin has been all over the place. Initially it was 3, then dropped to 1 (Down speed got as high as 113xx kbps), and at one time was some huge number - which I believe is a negative reading (i.e. more noise than signal, no gap/margin between noise and signal). I dug around my bits and pieces box and tried a different brand of Filter and the Noise Margin is now hovering around 7db which is a lot better. There are a lot of factors, some of them transient, that will affect the Noise Margin - last night was cold, wet and windy, I am on an overhead cable to a pole 150m away, the wire runs through a tree which was doing a rather spectacular dance in the wind. This morning is dry, breezy, sunny and so the conditions are somewhat different. One to keep an eye on. Although it has to be said that none of that was impacting my speedtests.
