jpxdude. You have the same attenuation as me, and I get 6MB easily. I think you need to eliminate any possible problems your end before involving sky. I suggest you try in in your test socket (if you have one) and then start your own thread for advice.

Thank for your quick reply! I ended up calling Sky after midnight and spoke to a nice guy who walked me through some steps. As you've mentioned, I should have done the test socket test before hand, as plugging straight through to that, I get a better noise margin (10) and a solid 8mb connection.

I think the faceplate on the mastersocket is knackered. I'd replace myself but there are about 4 very small wires routing to other sockets around the house on the front face. Does anyone know if this is easy to replace, and the wiring too?

The faceplate is unlikely to be "knackered", however it will be allowing interference through from your internal wiring. It is very easy to replace. I would suggest you use One of these as you will then no longer need filters on your other devices.

speedtouch 585v6 i was on sky b4 until they screwed up my connection for 2 weeks , finally got put back on and used my old netgear they sent out the 1st time , lucky for me all the details were the same so just used my old username and password from the netgear to put in my speedtouch for the life of me i dont understand why sky dont just give u a username and password so u can use it in any modem/router , its a bit unfair really specially if the modem breaks and u gotter wait ages for sky to send u out a new one if they do that is

You are getting nearly 2mb with an attenuation of 64.5db, that is really good. Just for comparison my line attenuation is 61db and noise margin 12db and am currently on 512kb.
