Is it possible to make ADSL DLM prioritize latency over bandwidth

I've tried in the past to ask Sky to change my line from Interleaved mode to Fastpath mode, they just couldn't do it. I'm now on NowTV. Is there anything I can ask them to do to make DLM optimize the line to reduce latency as opposed to increase sync rate?

Re: Is it possible to make ADSL DLM prioritize latency over bandwidth

DLM is more concerned with throughput vs stability.

The challenge you have is that the latency you are experiencing on ADSL is primarily a factor of the copper and infrastructure sat between you and Sky.

That's a very physical problem and unfortunately no amount of tweaking settings at the Exchange or Sky is going to dramatically improve that I'm afraid.

You may be able to find an ISP that can move you from Interleaved to Fastpath, but it's only going to give you a small improvement and it's worth considering the line conditions that caused you to be moved to interleaved mode in the first place.

Likewise if you really want this kind of control and technical involvement with your connection then a residential ISP is always going to be a challenge.

If latency on ADSL is a big problem (gaming etc) I am assuming that FTTC is not an available option for you?
