Major Sky Broadband Outage in southeast England

      Good morning folks.

It looks like there is a major outage in the southeast at the moment. I'm affected and looking at the posts it looks like it is affecting from Southampton & Winchester in the West to Hayling Island and Emsworth in the East. I'm not sure how much north from these places it is affecting yet. Feel free to chip in.

We understand from our onsite engineers that the problem has been caused by a fibre-cable break. Repair work is underway and we'll provide an update on progress soon.

As I am typing this, I have literally just received a text message advising me that the work will take at least another 4 hours!

Story on ISPReview suggests this is also affecting Virgin Media services, so it must be something major

Aye it was. It's all working once more now though, thankfully. It returned around 11.30am.

I'm not surprised that VM was also affected as often the ISPs share some trunk cabling at different points.
