Sky Q Hub Iphone Dropouts
Hello, i've been searching through the official forums and tried a few things to sort this out with no luck so far.
Basically since having the Sky Q Fibre Hub fitted last Thursday whenever we are walking around the house with our iphone it'll just disconnect from the router.
So far i've turned off IpV6 with no success
Switched off the 2g Band on both Sky Q Main Box / Slave box
Seperated the 5g and 2g bands on the router.
Still issues, mainly when on the middle floor (3 story town house) when im guessing its switching from one AP to another. I either have to wait 5/10 minutes or switch wifi off and back on.
Im guessing this is common as its raised a few times on the other forum but if there is no solution can anyone reccomend another modem/router I can replace the hub with?
TIA

Re: Sky Q Hub Iphone Dropouts
I suppose you could do a couple of things .
1) acquire a decent wap and plug that in to the sky router so that the wap is responsible for your wifi
2) ditch the sky hub altogether and acquire either a suitable all in one device (that will suppprt skys option 61)which will be a modem +router & wifi
or decide to run a seperate modem & router solution. I prefer seperates as changes or reboots to your router do not incurr a line resync as in an all in one.
popular router only choices are Asus routers as with merlin installed they are dead easy to configure for sky's option 61 which is required to get a valid wan authentication. This method requires a suitable vdsl modem working in bridge mode which can be easily acquired from the likes of eBay thus being a 2 box solution..
e.g 8800nl v1 or hg612 3b, vmg8324 (all work in bridge) then a n Asus "rt" variant sat behind and is compatiable with merlin. Doesn't have to be but requires a lot less effort to configure hence my suggestion...
my rt-ac88u works just great over 3 floors om our new build. Signal works fine right at the top of our new build. no need for any repeaters or other extenders etc..zyxel VMG3925 (bridge mode)

Re: Sky Q Hub Iphone Dropouts
if you run a seperate modem and router the modem is plugged into the router.
A suitable all in one device would be both your modem and router.
personally I would suggest seperate deviceszyxel VMG3925 (bridge mode)

Re: Sky Q Hub Iphone Dropouts
Do you have an iPhone X?
That phone drops out with many UK ISP routers and third party routers, not unique to the Sky Q hub.
Asus routers are suffering from this problem.
There is no fix from Apple yet, but some have found running the latest iOS 12 public beta has solved the problem.
Using a third party router with any Sky Fibre product is against Sky T&Cs.

Re: Sky Q Hub Iphone Dropouts
@SkyECI: It's an ECI Openreach modem. So the question for the OP is what cabinet type?

Re: Sky Q Hub Iphone Dropouts
Not providing any help or suggestions but just to add that both my and my wife's iPads will drop out for a minute or two. We can be in the same room as the router/hub and suddenly no wifi connection.
Originally it had be reboot the hub, rebooting the iPad but now we have grown use to it - just wait a minute or two and it will come back.
Cheers,
Nigel
