Broadband keeps losing IP Connection erratically started this week
If it still won't come in the moderation queue I will post it below:
So for about a week now my internet connection keeps dropping out every couple of hours or longer.
This is a massive pain now, and I left reporting it, in the hope it would blow over but now its causing me real issues. Basically the line goes down, Internet light turns off on the router, I have no connection and then it comes back up about 2-5mins later. Very bizarre. It started this week, or at least noticed it this week, as I game online alot and it is especially noticeable then.
So lets start with the info you may need in helping me diagnose this problem:
1) There is no noise on my phone line, checked by calling people. I haven't checked the line when the internet goes down
2) See Router statistics below:
3) See log for router below where you can see it loses IP connection every so often

4) I haven't tested the TEST SOCKET, I have had no problems with Sky Broadband since I got it a year and half ago, its been fantastic.
Any ideas?

Broadband keeps losing IP Connection erratically started this week
I have attached a word document explaining my problem as for some reason this forum won't let me post the whole thing here, so see the attached file.
Lets hope this one works
(Mods - You can edit this thread if you can copy and paste it in, but I have tried it 3 times and just won't work)

Re: Broadband keeps losing IP Connection erratically started this week
I think your post has been too long. The software only allows a maximum of 14,000 characters. I have approved you post here -
http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-b...roblem.html#18
As it is not connected to the problem posted by the original poster I will see if I can move it here.
It now appears as the first post.

Re: Broadband keeps losing IP Connection erratically started this week
There seems to be a problem with the latest firmware which did not show up in the beta testing. It appears to be effecting fibre lines more than ADSL. I have been running it for several months now and have not had one reset.

Re: Broadband keeps losing IP Connection erratically started this week
Well I called SKY last night was on the phone for 1hr 15mins, moved the router into the TEST socket on the master BT panel and going to test it from there for now and then their Customer Solutions guys are going to contact me.
I am going to test it from that test socket tonight to see if it drops at all, I will be frustrated if it doesn't as that would suggest some internal wiring issue, and nothing has changed in my house so that would be even more confusing.
However, time will tell, will check the router logs when I get home today to see if its dropped off at all. I will update if/when I find out more

Re: Broadband keeps losing IP Connection erratically started this week
If the experience of other users is anything to go by, it will not make any difference. The only way to stop the drop outs is to reinstall the older firmware. This is only a short term solution as it will soon upgrade again and put you back where you started.

Re: Broadband keeps losing IP Connection erratically started this week
Hopefully sky will release a new version shortly that will resolve it then
