Laptop can't connect to SR102 since firmware upgrade
Since my SR102 router had its firmware upgraded to 2.88.1086.R, my laptop has not been able to connect to it wirelessly. All other devices in the household continue to connect with no problem. The laptop will work when connected with an ethernet cable.
The laptop can 'see' the router but it is unable to connect to it. It can connect to other wifi networks successfully.
I have an Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG network card. I have noted on Sky's forum that other people with this wireless card have also had the same problem since the firmware upgrade (see: Wireless connection problem after Sky Hub update - Sky Community and Laptop can no longer connect - Hub doesn't seem to... - Sky Community)
I have tried all the suggestions in those threads (I think!). Including:
- Upgrading wifi card driver
- Turning off IPv6
- Turning off miniports
- Changing WEP to WPA2 and vice versa
- Changing Hub IP
- I have tried using the Sky Recovery tool to roll back the router's firmware version but it fails.
- I have tried manually changing the firmware version by downloading the firmware file and trying to flash it to the router but it fails (something about an 'illegal image')
- I tried returning the router to its original settings
But none of these have solved the issue.
Any suggestions for how I can solve this, please?

Re: Laptop can't connect to SR102 since firmware upgrade
Have you tried electing for the laptop to 'forget' the router's wireless signal, then rescan to pick it up again.

Re: Laptop can't connect to SR102 since firmware upgrade
Hi there,
Thanks for replying.
Have tried that too. Removed settings for all known WiFi networks and then tried to connect but no luck. :-(

Re: Laptop can't connect to SR102 since firmware upgrade
Have you recently picked up a nasty? Perhaps you've removed it too?
I have a friend's Laptop which has picked up some kind of infection and yesterday it wouldn't connect to any WiFi router. Today it managed to connect Ok, but I intend to rebuild it in due course.
It's the same laptop that had been upgraded to Win 10 (problems there) and I downgraded it yesterday back to Win 8.1.

Re: Laptop can't connect to SR102 since firmware upgrade
Hi scubbie,
Not that I'm aware of. I have Norton installed and fully updated doing regular checks. Also laptop will connect to other routers just not the sky hub. Will do some comprehensive virus and malware scanning tomorrow just in case it is that.
Thanks

have you tried connecting to router without wifi password ,if it does work it may be being blocked by antivirus but also possible corrupted windows security file

Re: Laptop can't connect to SR102 since firmware upgrade
Ok, the fact that you can connect with other routers isn't a 100% guarantee. I've actually had issues where sometimes it connects and other times it doesn't.
Could I ask you to try NPE? (Norton Power Eraser)
Admittedly I also have Norton as so does my friend. The cause of the problem seems to be evading Norton and I've been trying to crack this one for some time now.
Just to ensure that the issue isn't restricted to the WNDR3800 that I have at home, I've also tried a MiFi and of course my friend has been having issues on his SR101.
After reading this thread I tried something else, but didn't get anywhere with it. After looking at that I looked at trying to connect again and his Laptop displayed the PIN connection sequence so I took advantage of that and it worked. All day yesterday that didn't display.

Re: Laptop can't connect to SR102 since firmware upgrade
So, have tried making it an open network and trying to connect but no luck. Nothing found in scans or by NPE. Still not connecting.

Re: Laptop can't connect to SR102 since firmware upgrade
I have an idea that the problem is something to do with Sky's implementation of IPv6. Some adapters do not appear to support it. I have read elsewhere that this procedure cured the problem. I can't guarantee it will fix it and don't know why it should, but it may be worth a try,
- Launch a browser (the following is written for Intenet Explorer)
- In "Settings". select "Internet Options"
- Under the "Connections" tab, select "LAN Settings"
- Uncheck the "Proxy Server" ... "Use a proxy server ..." box
- Relaunch your browser
- Internet access is now permitted.
I don't have IE installed so can't check this is correct.
If you can find it, disable IPv6 on the adapter, not the router.

Re: Laptop can't connect to SR102 since firmware upgrade
Thanks.
Tried changing the proxy settings but "Use a proxy server" wasn't ticked anyway.
Went in to the adapter settings, the IPv6 box was unticked. I tried ticking it to see what would happen and the wifi icon in the taskbar showed as connected for half a second and then dropped out. Unfortunately haven't been able to repeat this though.
It does seem like it is some issue caused by Sky's implementation of IPv6 in the latest firmware update. I will not be able to post over the next week but I am still keen to find a solution. If we can't find one in settings on the computer or adapter, then any help in downgrading the firmware would be appreciated.
