Powerline adaptor problems with sky hub...
Hi,
I would be grateful for some help and advice. I have just moved into a brand new house and have my sky hub set up in my lounge. I have a separate room above the detached garage and this is the the same ring main as the ground floor of the house so wanted to use powerline adaptors. I initially just used wifi before setting up a pair of powerline adators (TP Link - TL-PA4030) These worked fine in the room above the detached garage. I bought some replacements for these as they also have a built in socket (TP Link - TL - PA4020P). The internet failed to work with these saying there was a limited connection even though all the lights were on and they were communicating with each other. Furthermore, when switched on, they also appeared to disconnect every device that was connected wirelessly and wouldn't allow them to reconnect to the skyhub. I have since tried the older adaptor i had that previously worked and am experiencing the same problem. When no powerline adatprs are on the wifi works again. I have tried turing off my sky hub and also pressing the reset button to no avail. Any ideas much appreciated.
Cheers,
Grimbo

A recent test I have seen found that having the homeplug close to the router reduced their efficiency. If yours is plugged in close to the router, try moving it further away, using a longer ethernet cable if necessary.

HI ,
How many RCD's have you in your consummer unit as its a brand new house you must have at least two fitted. i've yet to find a powerline adaptor that likes going throgh an RCD let alone an RCBO, But things improve all the time,
I know youve said there on the same Final Ring Circiut but are you100% certain ,we would wire upstairs socket outlets on a difernt Rcd to the socket outlets on the ground floor.Last edited by sparkie415; 18-04-17 at 08:34 PM. Reason: just noted the date of post
