Re: can anyone tell me which modem will limit bandwidth of devices?
Starting another thread on the same subject is not going to get you different answers. The type of router or switch which will do as you want are not cheap. If you cannot afford £50 then you have not much hope. As explained previously, many routers have so called QoS, but none of the cheap ones will allow you to divide bandwidth in the way you want to. At best they will give priority to certain protocols, such as those that allow gaming or streaming etc.

and I am looking for the cheapest that has this feature build in, even if it costs 50, I may find it cheaper used at ebay

Re: can anyone tell me which modem will limit bandwidth of devices?
You could do it with DD-WRT, but it is not a straight forward procedure. Read More-
Quality of Service - DD-WRT Wiki
The problem with using DD-WRT is that with very few exceptions it is restricted to non-ADSL routers, so you are going to need a separate modem.

Re: can anyone tell me which modem will limit bandwidth of devices?
so I will ditch the DD-RWT solution
tell me a few compatible cheapest models that work with sky, are modem and routers, and have built in QoS per device (I think this is per MAC address)

by the way, I didn't get an email notification of the new posts to this thread
also, do I need a modem? I don't use my landline phone at all
I only connect to the internet via my laptop and phone

You may be able to pick one up a lot cheaper on eBay.
This router will allow you to set up a guest network, with restrictions, which may also help do what you want.

I don't understand why you cannot suggest me a solution
maybe this offers a solution?

I thought I had in post #6
Piggy backing another router on to the Sky Hub would certainly work, I don't know if you bothered checking but all the recommended routers in their list cost well over £100. Here is just one with a much lower price which is supported by DD-WRT - TP-Link N600 Wireless Dual Band 4-Port Gigabit Cable Router TL-WDR3600 UK 6935364070007 | eBay

Re: can anyone tell me which modem will limit bandwidth of devices?
no in #6 you said I cannot use DD-RWT
plus you said to use a Guest Network, which I don't want to do it
what is piggy backing?
do I have to use their recommended routers or any router that supports DD-RWT can work?

Re: can anyone tell me which modem will limit bandwidth of devices?
Sorry, but your original question was -
can you tell me please which compatible modem can limit the bandwidth of specific devices connected?
so I will ditch the DD-RWT solution
Piggy backing is simply connecting a second router to the main router to extend the network.
If 'they' means the company you linked to, then yes any can use any compatible router. This company is simply one that supplies routers, ready flashed with DD-WRT so you do not have to do it yourself.
DD-WRT is not quite straight forward to set up and use as a plug 'n play router. If you feel you are up to it, then the TP-Link in my post #8 is about the cheapest you will get with up to date features. You may find cheaper ones but check their compatibility for DD-WRT by consulting this list - Supported Devices - DD-WRT Wiki
