Re: thinking of moving from bt to sky
An elderly friend of ours is with BT Broadband, unfortunately Royal Mail have stopped delivering her mail due to a neighbours dog trying to bite the postman, so her mail has to be collected from the post office. I did this for her this morning and delivered it to her. Whilst I was having a chat with her she opened a letter from BT which was an invitation from them to take up Infinity Fibre broadband at no extra cost for a year. Not a bad offer I would suggest as she would get a new hub as well.

If it is infinity broadband unlimited with a 12 month contract
it would be a good deal. BT don't seem to give much away to existing
customers. If it is the 20GB package which I suspect it is. it would not.

Re: thinking of moving from bt to sky
I don't know whether it is just my eyes but the small print associated with these offers appears to be getting smaller.

Re: thinking of moving from bt to sky
Keeping things in perspective DM... You mentioned that the only reason was because you didn't like the Sky Hub and couldn't get your own router working.
Sure the Sky Hub SR102 isn't the best router out there, but many others have got their own routers working, including myself. Sure some might want to call me an expert, but the truth is that there are far better people than I and I haven't used the same method as everyone, but a popular method that does work. I do try to talk from personal experience when possible and other times make it clear when I am attempting to answer based upon what others post.
Scubbie's setup:
BTO Modem -> Sky Hub SR101 -> Netgear WNDR3800
With well over 4 million Sky Broadband customers, many on the ADSL products, just like the OP is looking at, Sky Broadband Unlimited is a good product and the SR102 works well for it.
Please also remember that Sky does not throttle the connection speeds on any of the 'Unlimited' products too.
So at £15.40 line rental (per month) and free Broadband, it is a very good package IMHO.
PlusNet Fibre since Jan 2021
Previously Sky Fibre & Sky BB since 2010.

Re: thinking of moving from bt to sky
I have just signed up to sky and estimate I will save about 15pound
a month for the same package I get with BT.
also as an added bonus They throw in a 25 pound marks voucher.
So if all goes well I will be quite happy. Thanking everyone for their help.
