New broadband account
So my "new" Sky tv, telephone and broadband account went active today and my broadband is running a little faster so far.
Hope it stays that way but not overly hopeful.
Was on WLR3 but now on SVBN.
Stats:
Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5692 kbps 1097 kbps
Line Attenuation 54.5 dB 34.8 dB
Noise Margin 5.8 dB 6.6 dB
Download sync speed is up about 500kbps and Upload is up about 300Kbps.

Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6360 kbps 1023 kbps
Line Attenuation 54.0 dB 34.8 dB
Noise Margin 3.5 dB 6.6 dB
DLM is looking good. Not had any connection problems at all.

Re: New broadband account
Hi bubblegun.
So has DLM finished now & fixed the line on a 3db noise margin profile?
Although over 6.3Mbps downstream is outstanding for a 54db attenuation line, i'm just wondering what your ping times are like as a result.
I saw some other sky stats elsewhere today:
Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2027 kbps 605 kbps
Line Attenuation 68.0 dB 40.5 dB
Noise Margin 3.0 dB 9.9 dB
2027Kbps (or anything really) with a 68db attenuation is pretty impressive too.
More intriguing to me though is the 3db margin on such a long line.
Previous incarnations of DLM generally seemed to only use 3db on relatively short, clean lines.
Infact merely judging by the handful of stats i saw, the penultimate version of DLM appeared to have a slight bias towards less interleaving / lower pings, which technically can only be achieved at the expense of raw speed..Last edited by gymno; 12-09-14 at 08:21 PM.

Re: New broadband account
I think DLM may be ended now.
It's showing this tonight:
Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5876 kbps 1023 kbps
Line Attenuation 53.5 dB 34.8 dB
Noise Margin 6.8 dB 6.6 dB
I guess the 3dB noise margin was the DLM's last hurrah but it's dropped to this tonight.

Re: New broadband account
Aha so back to a target of 6db for more stability.
Still, nearly 5.9Mbps with that attenuation is top notch.
What are your pings like?
With previous DLM incarnation i noticed a large group around 23ms to 212.58.241.131 (bbc.co.uk).
Then a smaller group (which i'm in) with around 15ms.
And an even smaller group (obviously on fastpath) with 6-10ms.
Yep, 6ms without any tricks, using a sky router & double figure attenuations figures.

Re: New broadband account
I'm back to these stats again:
Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6659 kbps 1023 kbps
Line Attenuation 52.5 dB 33.8 dB
Noise Margin 3.4 dB 7.7 dB
It's been around this figure for about a month.
I have to say I'm impressed it's going so fast. Please note the views and recommendations in my posts are my own and in no way reflect the views of Sky
