Luffer, you problem sound more like a line problem than DNS issue (confirmed by the fact openDNS was no better and the mosseywell app)
could you start a new thread and post your detailed router stats (mognuts utility), if poss could you then do a comparison set of stats from your test socket (see first link in my sig)Links

sometimes the browser 'hangs' whilst loading pages yet downloads are not affected unless the router drops the connection (on occasion). i have tried OpenDNS which didnt make any noticeable difference, i also tried the firefox tweak and it seems to have reduced the 'hangs' somewhat. (very fast when it works though)
just to confound the issue i discovered that when firefox hangs, if i switch to IE the page is re-loaded and completed almost instantly so perhaps its a browser issue which is not helped by everyone bieng on the same IP range i suppose?

I'm also starting to wonder if it's a browser related issue, I use Firefox and it's exactly the same as you describe. Perhaps the latest upgrade has caused problems for some people. I might try a re-install of Firefox and see if that helps at all and also get a copy of Opera and see if that improves things.Last edited by richone54; 29-03-08 at 10:55 PM. Re: Slow page loading times
Yup it appears to be a Firefox issue for me when it comes to slow loading times as I have tried both browsers side by side and IE7 ****** on Firefox and since using IE I have not had an issue with pages loads, its a real shame as I much prefer Firefox, I've tried Firefox 3 beta and the problem remains.
Setting the connections things in the firefox config helps but my system doesn't seem to retain the setting, guess I'm stuck with IE until an update or some other bright spark finds a solution
Might give Opera a shot, as IE is rubbish to use.

Re: Slow page loading times
if you have IE tab in your firefox browser just switch rendering engines whenever firefox hangs and see how blindingly fast the page loads.
also what does 'ipconfig /flushdns' do and will it help with firefox hangs?
i downloaded fasterfox add-on thinking it would help only to find out they were the same tweaks i tried manually using 'about:config'
i think i will switch to Opera its reportedly the fastest on windows...

I had stupid loading times on pages, some that wouldn't load at all and then I hit enter in the address bar again and they would load straight away and other times they would sit and take ages to load.
I tried switching to Firefox and it didn't really make a lot of difference.
Well.....
I have now switched something else....
I now use Ubuntu Linux and I have yet to have a hanging / slow loading page.
Go back to Windows and wow problems are there again.
Just a weird thought :/

Re: Slow page loading times
opera seems good to me, I'd still rather use firefox, if just for the ability to open new tabs from my favorites in the personal bar when using my middle button, so annoying that this doesn't work in Opera or IE, its one of those things you get used to doing, so much more efficient oh and tabs opening in the background.
Whenever I pop back to firefox within 30mins to 1hr I have experienced a page where I have to continually refresh before it will fully load, no such issues with IE7 or Opera.Last edited by sandys; 10-04-08 at 01:15 AM.

Re: Slow page loading times
Yep, I still get hangs during page loading on firefox. It's not a crash because the program still responds, it's like the rendering engine or something just stops. I've tried using Opera and it's blisteringly fast, a real breath of fresh air.
Re-installing Firefox didn't help, I think it must be a browser issue. A shame because Firefox has been brilliant, I don't want to use anything else!
