Setting up expernal device with Sky Hub router
Hi i am new to sky and just had broadband switched over. I work from home and have a card payment machine connected to my broadband. Since switching over from my previous supplier talk talk, my card machine won't connect.
I have got some advice and tried to fix but struggling with this. I am completely phased technically. I have opened up two ports on my router but this still hasn't sorted the problem. i have also updated firewall but i wasn't sure on the "send to LAN server" section. i wonder if I have inputted the correct info.
can anyone help aaahhhh
derek

Re: Setting up expernal device with Sky Hub router
Have you spoken with the providers of the card payment machine and the people to whom you connect?
One possibility is that your IP Address is locked out. It might fall outside their 'acceptable' range.
Also find out which ports need to be set up and ensure that the card machine is being recognised on the Sky Hub. It is possible that the IP Address was manually set for the TalkTalk router and needs to be changed to work on the Sky Hub. With this in mind, check out the link below:
IP Address Reservation
As for port forwarding. Hopefully UPnP will work. This is enabled by default. If not do check out the instructions in the link below:
Port forwarding - Setting up Port forwarding (use existing & set up custom services)
You card reader provider should be able to give you all the details required for any port forwarding, provided that this is the issue.

Re: Setting up expernal device with Sky Hub router
HI and thanks for the response.
Yeh I have spoken to the card machine people and as its a Sky issue they are little limited as to what they can advise.
I have tried to add the Static Ip Address manually but it says the IP address is out of range? Not sure how to get around that.
I am pretty sure the prot frowarding is not the issue and that it is the Static IP Address that needs sorting .

Can I ask what static IP Address you were attempting to assign the card machine?

Re: Setting up expernal device with Sky Hub router
That'll be why.
Unless you have changed the IP Address range of the Sky Hub, the default is 192.168.0.x, as Saturday has mentioned.
Could you try setting it to 192.168.0.101 ?

Check to see what port-forwarding rules you ave set and see if it all works I guess.
