New Install, please help me get best speed
Hi,
I've just had sky broadband installed.
I got a black router.
Have connected it to the phone line and it's giving me a current speed of around 3.5mb.
That is less that what Sky originally said.
I understand that over the next couple of weeks the speed should slowly increase and that I should make sure not to turn off or disconnect the router in this time.
Is there any way to estimate the speed it should be at within two weeks?
Router stats are posted below.
Thanks in advance for anyones help.

Re: New Install, please help me get best speed
As you say you are at the start speed of 4mb/800kb, however ther appears to be something wrong with you connection. Your present downstream noise margin is far too low. This suggests there is something interfering and causing noise on your line. I would advise you plug the router only into the Test socket, using only a filter and the cable supplied by Sky. Take and post your stats from there.
How to test your ADSL in the Master Test Socket
With your attenuation you should expect something between 10 and 12 Mb.

Re: New Install, please help me get best speed
Sorry, that is the exactly the same stats as you posted before, so it tells us nothing. You should not need to restart your router, but the WAN uptime should change if you unplug the router and plug it in again..
There is a slight improvement in your noise margin but not much. If you can leave it in the test socket and let DLM do its thing for the time being. If it does not bring you up to the possible speed, then you can get on to Sky. It is pointless speaking to them before that, as they will just tell you that you must wait till DLM completes.

Re: New Install, please help me get best speed
If you are still in the Test socket, I don't think so, in fact you may find the speed drops a bit. Your noise margins are very low and any noise on the line could cause a drop out, and resync at a lower speed.
