Can't establish a secure connection to the server
When I try to load my gmail account on Safari, I get the following error message
"safari can't open the page because safari can't establish a secure connection to the server"
I tried googling it and it came up with two suggestions
1) Go to the hardware/ethernet on Network connections and change the MTU to Custom 1300
That didn't work, I changed it also to 1280 (1280 to 1500)
2) To Download Trusteer Rapport Software
(does anyone use this or recommend this) I don't want to download it without finding out if it's safe and will provide more security)
Thank you for your assistance.

Re: Can't establish a secure connection to the server
I would not change the MTU, 1500 should work perfectly well with Sky. Try clearing the browser's cache, Safari->Preferences->Advanced. Looking at Google this seems to be a common complaint with Safari. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=sa...H4qDjweJ4YCwBQ
Trusteer Rapport is very good, I would not do any banking or other payments without it enabled. Just make sure it is compatible with your version of Safari before you install it. Get it from your Bank's website.
If you are really stuck try using Firefox, it is compatible with Trusteer and gives me no problems.

Re: Can't establish a secure connection to the server
Trusteer Rapport is not compatible with Google Chrome, which is my preferred browser nowadays. In the past, I found it to be a bit unruly on a Mac, but I expect it's improved since back then!

I also use Rapport with Chrome and it seems to work OK.

Re: Can't establish a secure connection to the server
I don't use Chrome, just can't get on with it, I use Firefox because it has the wonderful no script which has stopped the nasty re-directs to porn sites that I was getting. So I use both Firefox and Safari together, so if one browser can't handle a particular site I can use the other..
For example I play Pogo.com, it won't run on Firefox for some reason but it runs fine on Safari.

Re: Can't establish a secure connection to the server
Last time I checked, Trusteer Rapport did not support Chrome browser on Mac. But maybe that has now changed?
EDIT: Chrome supported on Windows but seemingly not on Mac.

Apologies for not making the relevance of & applicability to Mac more clear in this discussion!++ speedyrite ... powered by NOW Broadband from June 2018 ++
