What's the best way to leave a sky llu contract early?
I am currently a Sky LLU broadband/phone customer and I am under contract until July 2014. A FTTC connection will be available on my cabinet in the next month or so and I would like to switch phone/broadband providers to take advantage of FTTC, but I do not wish to stay with Sky.
I am aware of my contractual obligations and have read the helpful information available at -http://help.sky.com/my-account/billing-and-subscription/charges-for-ending-your-sky-contract-early - so I am more than happy to pay the charges until the end of my contractual period.
What I do want to know, however, is what is the best way to make this happen when orders are open on my new FTTC cabinet. Should I simply ring Sky, tell them I want to leave and pay the outstanding amount for the period until the end of my contract over the phone? or is there an easier way of doing this?
Just to be 100% clear, I am not trying to avoid my contractual obligations and I am more than happy to pay what is owed under the contract, but I am asking for advice as to the best way to make this happen and to pay the money and to transfer to a new ISP as painlessly as possible.
Many thanks for any advice.

Re: What's the best way to leave a sky llu contract early?
I am about to launch a business from home, so I need a business level ISP with the levels of care/support/service that they offer. So I can't risk going with a consumer level ISP.
I know that this will cost big £££ but it is an expense that has been budgeted for as part of the business plan

Thats a fair enough reason. Just didn't want to see you jump out of the frying pan into the fire so to speak.
I it ain't broke, take it apart it soon will be.

Re: What's the best way to leave a sky llu contract early?
If you don't want to be without telephone/broadband and especially if you want to retain the same directory number I would wait until FTTC becomes available then place an order with your preferred supplier.
Don't contact Sky until after the changeover occurs except to respond to any communication that you may receive from them.
Once you have a confirmed activation date from your new supplier Sky should not be able to do anything to screw up the transfer but it's not really worth taking the risk.

I agree with Seawright, don't tell Sky you want to cancel or you will probably be cut off right away. Leave it to the ISP of your choice to organise the transfer, then settle up with Sky once the move is complete.

Re: What's the best way to leave a sky llu contract early?
Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated. My only concern here is that Sky would block the transfer to a new ISP as I am still under contract to them.
However, having spoken to Sky's customer service representatives on the phone I would share your fears about them terminating the service, hence my request for advice as I'm not sure as to the best course of action

Re: What's the best way to leave a sky llu contract early?
I don't think that Sky would try to block the transfer so place the order with your preferred supplier and see what happens. If there is a problem ask your new supplier for advice. Contacting Sky directly yourself concerning the transfer should be an avenue of last resort.
