Have done that before. I have a feeling my line may come under range B as I am sure there are some problems with the overhead cable from my house/to the pole. Last time we had noise on the line, there was water getting in the small box on the telegraph pole and the engineer emptied it, which seemed to solve the problem.
We again had noise on the line recently and the engineer that was sent out didn't check from the house to the telegraph pole. He went straight to the cabinet and claimed there were wires touching one another. When I told him about last time (considering the increased amount of rain at present) he mumbled something about having to get off home and then went. Later that evening - still having faint cracking on the line. I just gave up in the end.
