Second phone line and internet connection

Hi everyone,

Basically I live with my family however we only have the downstream speed of about 6mbps and with 5+ people using this it can get quite laggy when i'm playing my games and such, So i was wondering if anybody knew if sky would be about to install me a second line for my personal use, and if so how much would it cost?

Sky will not install a second connection to a house where they already have a connection. With so many users, Fibre is probably your best bet if you can get it. It would cost more, but less than another line and broadband connection.

Fibre is available in your exchange, you would have to check if it was available at the cabinet that serves you.

Yeah unfortunately fibre isn't enabled at my cabinet :/ there are several cabinets within a few streets which are enabled but I guess i'm just the unlucky one

Have you tried to find out when your cabinet will go live?

If you have no idea, try sending a nice email to the NGA BT Openreach email address:

nga.enquiries @ openreach.co.uk

You will need to supply your fully home address and telephone number. The response may take 2 or 3 weeks.

Just sent them a polite email asking if there are any plans for it to become fibre active, thanks for the help guys

Turns out that my cabinet is not planned for an upgrade ever? Due to not enough customers in the area.. They just built a huge housing estate across the road

Considering how cheap fibre is you'd think they would lay it at all new builds but no.....

No doubt in X years they will be laying it when the infrastructure is already in making the job harder!
