Black Sky Hub on Sky ADSL
I have purchased a used Sky hub SR102 will it work on Sky ADSL?
Also as it has been used i'm assuming it will have the previous owner's details on the hub how do I erase this and put my details on so it connects to my Sky broadband?
Many thanks
Jamie

Re: Black Sky Hub on Sky ADSL
Yes the router should work (more in a moment). The Modem is a VDSL Model which is also compatible with an ADSL connection.
As for any previous owner details, such as port forwarding, etc., simple connect the router to the mains, allow to start up and settle down, then press and hold the 'Reset' button for a good 10 seconds.
I would also recommend setting your own WiFi details (Wireless name/SSID and Password). The SSID can be almost anything you like, but avoid rude words as it is broadcast publicly. I also advise against using obvious identifiable names such as "Number3" or "JohnsWiFi" as you might be tempted to turn off the router when you are on holiday and people will know you are away. Also it makes it easier for hackers to target you if they know quickly which is yours.
Once setup, simply connect the router to your ADSL connection. It may take up to an hour for it to connect to Sky's servers for the first time. This is normal. If it doesn't connect after a good hour, give Sky a friendly call and ask someone to unlock the router for you.

Re: Black Sky Hub on Sky ADSL
I already have Sky but I use the 2304 router which gives me really poor WiFi range.
A lot of devices I use are connected to WiFi, if I replicate the SSID for example my current SSID I use is SKY1239 and the password is WAQATRER (fictional) and I apply this to the Sky hub will devices automatically connect to that?

Re: Black Sky Hub on Sky ADSL
That will work.
I've been using the same SSID & WiFi password on different routers for a while now. Admittedly it is not a classic "SKY12345" or the classic 8 capital letters, but it make migrating between routers easier.

Re: Black Sky Hub on Sky ADSL
A bit late but I take it you missed the thread about Sky giving out free wi-fi boosters to subscribers ?
I hope you didn't pay too much for the hub ,as I believe Sky would have sent you a new one for free .
I received a SR102 to replace my D-link router today under the free booster offer.

It was free and so received instantly.
The booster wouldn't bother me. But if I need it I will apply.

Re: Black Sky Hub on Sky ADSL
Its turned out to be a SR101.
I currently don't have Sky broadband.
I'm trying to change some settings on the hub using its web interface, but I can't get past the Sky fibre broadband diagnostics page.
Any chance I can bypass it?

Re: Black Sky Hub on Sky ADSL
You should be able to log in to the router and change the settings, even without it being connected to the Internet.
If someone has changed the default password, simply press the Reset button on the rear (with the power on) for 10-15 seconds.

Are you trying to use the router with BT?
