intermittent connection problems with 3rd party router

over the last couple of weeks i've been having all sorts of problems with my billion 7800. swapping the 7800 out for either of the two "sky" routers (netgear phase 1 / sagem phase 2 refresh) i have delivers a stable connection straight away. using the 7800 gives a stable connection pretty much 24x7 with only one or two outages per day, then every few days or so the adsl connection will drop and fail to connect over an over again, eg. :

although i tested mpoa / mer ages ago, the 7800 has been configured to use ppoa for months now. i've swapped out all the other components but to no avail.

Line Attenuation 53.5 dB 31.7 dB
Noise Margin 6.2 dB 10.3 dB

does anyone know if sky have changed anything that would make it incompatible with 3rd party routers. i've posted in the uk billion forum as well.

Very unlikely. If that were the case the forum would be overwhelmed with complaints and also if they had done anything you would not be able to connect at all. If the Sky routers give no problems, the most likely reason is that the Billion is failing. Do you have a friend whose connection you could try it on?
