Need help with setting up Belkin f5d8636-4 v2
Hi, i have been through the post on here and i think i have manage to get majority of the setting done.
I have a Belkin f5d8636-4 v2 router that i would like to use instead of the standard Sagem one that was sent by sky. The reason i would like to use this is because i live in an old victorian house that has thick concrete walls and i am unable to get a signal upstairs in the bedroom, also i like to stream HD movies from my computer to ps3, and i have noticed the Sagem router can't handle the 1080p streaming
So far what i have done is
1. Retrieve the username and password the safe way (as mentioned in a another poster)
2. Connect the belkin router and input user, password, mac address (mac address from sagem router label)
3. The router itself works locally from devices in the house but i have no internet connection
I must of missed something so i would really appreciate if you can guide me on this,
This is a screen shot after inputting the details above
Many Thanks
Billy

You appear to be connecting to the exchange OK, but you are not getting a connection to the Sky server. The most common reason for this is having the wrong username or password. Go to the generator site and go through the process again, this time copying and pasting the information from your router on to the generator page then copy and paste the result to a document. When you have done that, copy and paste the details into your Belkin. Make sure you are using the LAN MAC address to obtain the details.

Re: Need help with setting up Belkin f5d8636-4 v2
Service Name - Sky Broadband
IP assigned by IP - Yes
VPI/VCI - 0/38
Encapsulation - VC-MUX
MTU - 1500
Network type - PPPoA
With the correct user name and password, that is all you require.
I should have said, you can only connect this router if your line supports PPPoA, if it is MER only you will not be able to connect. Most of Sky's ADSL connections are PPPoA or PPPoA/MER, but there may be some which are still MER only. What Mode is your Sky router using to connect? You will find it under the Broadband port in the router status page.
