SR101-Z Router won't connect to ADSL but F@ST2504n will

Hi Folks

After experiencing a few disconnects with my existing sky router (Sagemcom F@ST2504n), I purchased a brand new sealed in box SR101 from ebay, but it wont connect, the smiley face light just flashes orange does not sync and then goes out. I have also tried connecting at the BT test socket with the same result. This is using the new cables and filters that came in the box

Originally I thought the mac address was blocked, but I got Sky support to check and release the MAC address. They also advised that a blocked mac would not stop the adsl sync, it would show a solid orange smiley face.

I have confirmed the new SR101 works as I took it over my fathers house over the road and it connects - smiley face quickly goes white and the internet can be accessed.


I am now thinking it could be my line - see stats below, can anyone interpret them please?

I had this issue when I was playing about with my new Hub before the Fibre engineer arrived. Didn't spend much time investigating it, so I'm not exactly sure why it wouldn't sync on ADSL>

It appears that when plugging in the Sky Hub for the first time, it can take up to an hour before it connects for the first time.

How long have you left it to try to connect?

Also do ensure that the WAN Setup page is correct.

You should ensure that the 'Router Mode' option is set to ADSL Only or Auto. Also the MTU should be set to 1500.

I believe this is an authentication delay and nothing to do with being able to sync up. I suspect me having a fibre hub may have had something to do with it, although the WAN mode is on "auto" by default, so I dunno.

I have the same Hub as you and have no difficulty logging into ADSL. 30-40 secs is typical. This is my last reconnection after using another router.

Hi All

Sorry for the delay in replying - I have been on holiday

After giving up on the new hub I gave it one more try and it synched!

@Scubbie: I had left it overnight before to no avail

@buddbuttocks: Sky advised that the ADSL (smiley face) would sync (stop flashing and go steady orange) but not go white if it was a blocked mac/authorisation problem.
