Sky ADSL questions
Hi,
I am thinking about getting ADSL and am looking at Sky and have some questions
1. Does an engineer need to come out in to the property to do anything?
2. Our BT line is not active, would an engineer need to come out to the property?
3. Do I presume I just bit filters to the made line and the extension, I would be connecting the ADSL modem to the extension and the main line may or may not have a phone attached?
4. I am going to be using it for Gaming on an Xbox 360 as our Virgin Media internet seems to go to bits from around 4pm onwards for gaming?
5. Do Sky have an cancellation during the first X days, if so how many days do I have to cancel it all?

Re: Sky ADSL questions
The best thing to do before considering anything else is to check that sky are an LLU operator at your local phone exchange.
This site is usually up to date with such info:

Re: Sky ADSL questions
Yes it is.
Now back to my questions.
1. Does an engineer need to come out in to the property to do anything or is it self installed?
2. Our BT line is not active, would an engineer need to come out to the property?
3. Do I presume I just fit filters to the made line and the extension, I would be connecting the ADSL modem to the extension and the main line may or may not have a phone attached?
4. I am going to be using it for Gaming on an Xbox 360 as our Virgin Media internet seems to go to bits from around 4pm onwards for gaming?
5. Do Sky have an cancellation during the first X days, if so how many days do I have to cancel it all?Last edited by CBG; 23-05-13 at 06:56 PM.

Re: Sky ADSL questions
1 normally self install of router
2 depends on if bt line has been removed if it has then will need bt visit
3 yes fit filter but use main socket for extension specially as you say your a gamer
4 gaming is fine but does depend on quality of line on unlimited package no limits
5 there is cancellation usually first 10 days

Re: Sky ADSL questions
Hi,
The BT line is still connected to the house and has a master BT box on the wall, so I just presume it need to be made active.

Re: Sky ADSL questions
If a line has not been used for more than 12 months, then it is BTO's standard policy to visit the property to ensure that it works 100%. Since you are also getting Sky connected, which I presume would be different to your previous ISP on the BTO line, then it is highly likely that the BTO Engineer will visit anyway.
