Noise on the line through test socket
If I'm getting noise on the telephone line through the test socket located on the master socket with different phones, does that mean the line problems are definitely external and not related to internal wiring?

Provided that the phone is corded, then give your line provider a call. This would be Sky if you pay the Sky Talk line rental.
