Usage Statistics
Hi
I am thinking of changing my Sky Unlimited Broadband package to one with a limit either with Sky or another provider, but I have no idea what my monthly usage is as Sky do not collect this information for my current package.
Is there anything collected by the router (Sagem) that would enable me to calculate a usage figure?
Many thanks

Re: Usage Statistics
Unless you are moving as well, there are only 2 ADSL broadband options for Sky in your area. The Every Day lite package has a 2GB monthly limit. The other is the Unlimited package.
Price wise the Unlimited package is still one of the best ones around. Sure BT and Plusnet have now reduced their introductory prices, which make them very enticing. However both will be subject to being slowed down after 4pm - midnight during the week and all day at the weekends.
As for actual usage figure, there are tool around for installation on a computer. With all the additional kit which can also access the Internet which is available, this may hardly touch your usage.

Re: Usage Statistics
Thanks for your replies
performance is an issue, but this is being driven by cost I'm now paying 17.50 + 14.50 with Sky, the PlusNet offer is 2.99 + 13.99 with a 10Gb limit, that's a saving of £15 month.
I was hoping you might be able to use the Tx and Rx pkts, but I am guessing there is no standard packet size.
Are there any tools you would recommend?
PS. I am currently getting 8/1MB are you suggesting that we would get significantly lower values with another provider?Last edited by PoBear; 29-03-13 at 03:34 PM.

Re: Usage Statistics
Ok, in this case you are not on the Sky Broadband Unlimited package. You are actually on the Sky connect package.
You actually have a monthly limit of 40GB.
Double check the deal from Plusnet first as they charge more in a telephone exchange which is 'Market 1'. Check 'SamKnows' to see which your is.
SamKnows - Telephone Exchange Search
Sky Broadband Unlimited cost £7.50 (£10.00 if you don't have Sky TV). The Connect package costs £17.50.
