Question about ip address and sky service cause if it.
Hi all I have noticed today that I have a IP address today which I am not familiar with on sky and it is in the 5.71.xx.xxx range. Now I know that I used to be on a IP address starting with 91.xxx.xxx.xxx range.
The reason I ask is that as I posted recently the last 2 months I have had terrible problems, OK the lines being broke which BT fixed was not no one fault, but since I have had it fixed I have had issues which have been a speed issue dropping everytime if I reset the router, so I had a sagem router and have been connected for 2 weeks now straight at 7008.
The guy at the CST of sky said he would start DLM and it would push my speed up, but it aint in the last 14 days. and to be honest I know the line is capable of around 7600 ish minimum as I had it for 2 and half years at that speed, but the last 5 months it have been quite rubbish.
Also as well as speed problems I get times when images dont load on certain sites without a refresh or speed will just drop for no reason then pick backup. I am now thinking if sky is messing with IP addresses or trying to save bandwidth as I think the service have been quite poor from sky broadband recently.
Any advice on this IP address would be greatful. Thanks.
Anthony

Re: Question about ip address and sky service cause if it.
The IP Address will not be what has changed your connection speed.
What is more likely is that Sky has been running out of IPv4 addresses again and has acquired another block of numbers. This is why in the past week we have seen another member with an IP Address starting with 151 and now yours starting with 5.
There are some areas which have bandwidth issues. Sky has posted something on this topic in their help section:
Sky Help and Support | Service Status
PlusNet Fibre since Jan 2021
Previously Sky Fibre & Sky BB since 2010.
