Re: Very slow dial-up style speeds on 18MB synch
Sorry for not providing a link to help. Try this thread for a start, there are a few useful links in it:

The threads I am thinking of were started in January or early February. this year.
I have found a tool referenced here though: http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-b...tml#post405114

Re: Very slow dial-up style speeds on 18MB synch
I think it was intended as Feb 2013. There must have been a delay somewhere in the system.
Sky will fix it though.

Re: Very slow dial-up style speeds on 18MB synch
I have a feeling that this is more than just a backhaul issue. This usually effects users at peak times only and does not reduce the speed to such a low rate. It is possibly a problem with the Sky equipment within the exchange. Hopefully now that Sky are aware of it they will fix it soon. They seem to be well behind on fixing the backhaul issue. I think it is going to hit all their exchanges, so they are constantly playing 'catchup'.

Re: Very slow dial-up style speeds on 18MB synch
It does get worse over the peak period, non peak i can get speed tests of around 0.300mbs (had a 0.900mbs before work today almost a meg!!) during peak it goes as low as 0.010mbs - 0.030mbs (around 8pm~)
Where as when everythings working its normally in the 16.34mbs
(Upstream seems uneffected)

Re: Very slow dial-up style speeds on 18MB synch
Not much else to add really.
I'd echo Smoosher in saying that on Monday night everything was 100% and had been solidly stable for months at around 16MB.
Tuesday morning it was as if someone had flipped a switch. I'd not checked my line uptime before resetting the router, so can't confirm that the line rest on Monday night/Tuesday morning.
However also upstream for me is working 100% and if I play WOT and use TS everything is fine.
There was a problem in Jan when pings were horrible (from a stable 30ms to 300ms to the WOT servers) during peak hours probably due to congestion, but since Feb there's been no problem. I'd assume this ties in with the listing next to our exchange where it mentions early Feb.
The more that gets posted the more it just sounds like a component has gone poof at the exchange, but not in a way that sends up any status flags. Hence all the 'but you're line speed is excellent' twaddle.
Oh and I was told there is no Tier Two support or elevated help. First rule of Sky Club maybe?

Re: Very slow dial-up style speeds on 18MB synch
Quick reply before i get back to work.
The interesting thing is the difference the program reports to what speedchecker reports. if it was 2-5mbs i wouldn't really notice (while gaming). Ill proberly run that program tonight, it does seem to get better speeds than what i get while trying to download files on my own PC which is bizzare in itself, im hoping its an exchange component gone, also hoping for an quick fixLast edited by Smoosher; 21-03-13 at 03:09 PM.

Re: Very slow dial-up style speeds on 18MB synch
Nice graph. Do leave it all running as much as possible though.
This is something which can be left to run constantly. The idea is to show a pattern which can't otherwise bee seen.
