Download speed dropping to 453kbs

Ok so ive been with sky for 2 years now and well i used to always maintain over a 1MB download speed at its peak it would download at 1.7MB's , however over the course of 7 months or so my download speed dropped to under 500kbs , now for a gamer that plays alot of PC/xbox games thats a pain really , now all tho im not the owner of the broadband and im more or less helping my dad pay for it , i was wondering what i should say when me and my dad are on the phone with them tomorrow , also here is stats

i see alot of people complaining about sky and how their broadband is crap witch i might agree to but its the cheapest out there compared to others , but still they should only stick with phone , digital TV packages

dunno if this is really needed but il add it anyway im using power-links for Ethernet as i dont want to have a huge Ethernet cable running up stairs into my room

People will always complain on the forums. Obviously there is a difference between a loan voice and dozens complaining about the same thing, so do take things into perspective.

Currently there is an issue in some areas with the backhaul. This is being addressed and for many it will be resolved next month.

It would be useful to check to see if your area is already listed as affected. Please take a look at the thread below. If your exchange isn't listed look at neighbouring exchanges and also click the link to check for the latest details. I understand that addition exchanges are affected and may have already been added.

Your sync speed is quite low, you should have 8-10 Mb. Most of those suffering from low exchange throughput, are still syncing at their full speed with only the actual throughput reduced. Check that all the phone socket which are in use in your house have a filter fitted first to the socket. This applies especially to Sky digi boxes. If all have filters properly fitted, plug the router into the test socket, using only the ADSL cable supplied by Sky and post the stats.

Using homeplugs may reduce your throughput but will not effect the stats.

Sky now have over 4 million broadband users, so if even 1% of these are not happy that's 40,000. A lot of people, but nothing when compared to the total users. Add to that the fact that very very few join forums to say how good their service is, most join when they have a problem.

Same attenuation as me, Yet I get 5Mb and never faster than that.

Then you too have much less speed than you should have. From your previous posts it appeared you may have a fault on your line.
