Re: Congested exchange list.
Thank you for this.
It is worth pointing out that these may be the current acknowledged exchanges. There may be others affected and it would be useful to collect supporting information to show whether an exchange is affected or not.
For anyone reading this, if you think that you are affected and your exchange isn't on the list above or on Sky's updated list on their site, please can you do the following:
Collect a sample of speed tests before, during and after the issue over a few days.
Also collect a sample of ping results (use the ping command and ping the BBC website). Again these should be before, during and after the period of you being affected.
Whilst this might be obvious to some people, please do ensure that any tests are done when you are not busy using the connection for other things, such as streaming video, downloads and torrents.

Re: Congested exchange list.

Re: Congested exchange list.
They'll need some pickaxes too as the ground is frozen too I expect.
Better still, the Sun is out where I am, could you send them this way until things have returned to normal please?

Re: Congested exchange list.
MY exchange isn't on the list, been suffering since mid december aswell although I think more capacity was added to my exchange on thursday.
Wednesday night was perhaps the worst night I suffered, ping passed 1000, every other ping was timing out and I just gave up and watched some TV.
Thurs peak time and friday were grand, best its been in over a month and today ping has been pretty much rock solid, will see how it goes tomorrow night aswell before I give the all clear.
It is massively more stable and usable for gaming.

Re: Congested exchange list.
I'm assuming you've tried the postcode checker:
Broadband and Talk service updates | Sky Customer Support
Are you anywhere near a known affected exchange?
Reason i ask is that i suffered congestion problems last summer & nothing was showing up on the checker.
After sky looked in to it, a network guy phoned to say they were already aware of the problem, just not that it was affecting my exchange.
He then went on to explain that mine was the last in a line of 3 exchanges (he described them as "not actual exchanges, just buildings with exchange type equipment in" - whatever that means) & that the necessary upgrades had been done to 'the middle one' & everything should be fine in approx 2 weeks, which it was.
One point, is that within a few days of sky officially acknowledging the issue, the postcode checker updated to show 'exchange affected'.
Another, is that on the very day that the new equipment went live & all my problems were over, the checker updated again to show 'exchange unaffected'.
Had i known about this 'daisy chaining' of exchanges thing at the time, i'd have used some postcodes from neighbouring areas on the checker & perhaps identified the problem sooner...

Re: Congested exchange list.
I have been asked to feed back any information regarding those who may have been affected by this but whose exchanges are not on the current list. Please double check that you exchange hasn't been added first please as the list has been updated in the app on the Sky site. The link is at the top of the 1st post in this thread.
I am looking to show confirmed drops in speed during specific times of day (i.e. when the backhaul is busy), and normal speeds before and after.
I will also need to know your telephone Exchanges code. Please refer to the website SamKnows for this (Link below) if you do not already know.

Thank you.

Re: Congested exchange list.
Hey Scubbie,
I've not been on here for a while but see you guys are still doing a great job.
For info, I have been suffering awful peak period speeds since November and Sky have finally admitted it's a congestion issue.
My exchange is Healing, code SLHLG and it's not on the list.
Link to some of my stats etc on the Sky forum to save me posting again on here.
Sky Help Forum - Speed drop during peak periods - Help & Support from the Official Sky Forum
I have been informed via CST that the Network Team are looking to resolve between end of Feb and early May - March is favourite apparently.
Regards.
