Re: Firmware 6.14.2a4N_UNI causing ADSL drop outs?
I used to be connecting at over 2mbps (i live quite far from the exchange) - now im at around 320kbps!
Ive had some line issues, but i've noticed that the router has updated. Anyone think that this could be the issue?

Re: Firmware 6.14.2a4N_UNI causing ADSL drop outs?
Hi folks,
Quick update for you all...
Firstly some background information for you all.
This update has been designed to tackle some issues with the router settings page and also to make some improvements on the WiFi. This firmware introduces the same automated WiFi channel changing process as the Sky Hub SR101.
So whilst I appreciate that the issue of line dropping needs to resolved, you should also notice an improved stable WiFi connection if you live in a busy area and have the Wifi Channel set to 'Auto'. I have been using the Sky Hub SR101 for several months and live in an area where there is a large number of WiFi routers and it has behaved very well for me. Of course it doesn't mean that it will be perfect all the time though. There are many things which can upset the WiFi performance, such as DECT phones & AV Senders which can sometimes share the same wireless spectrum.
I don't have a list of specifics with regards to the GUI corrections. Perhaps someone who is using this firmware can post a list if they have noticed them?
Secondly, getting back to this issue, could you please confirm whether you are using the WiFi connection when the disconnections happen. This can then be picked up and fed back to the development team, along with whether you were connecting via MER or PPPoA with the new firmware.
As you can gather from this post, this issue has reached the ears of the development team and I am sure that they are sorry for the problems it has caused. If you could post the information requested, then it will be fed back to them.

Re: Firmware 6.14.2a4N_UNI causing ADSL drop outs?
when i was using the new firmware my 2 pcs used Ethernet and 1 laptop and 2 phones used wireless. it would only drop out in the evening through to early morning about 5pm - 8am.
i downgraded the firmware @ 9pm on sunday and since then i have only had 1 drop out at 5.30am this morning. so for me downgrading has worked for me since the connection never lasted past 20 mins in the evening before.
i just have to hope that sky don't upgrade my router again to the firmware that clearly doesn't work.
my router uses mer with new firmware and old one.

this is what was happening to me ,...
my router uses mer, what is mer ?
in my
Connection Status
Connection Time
9:36:15
this means that my router must have rebooted during the day as it was ok @ 7am this morning
overall it seems more stable just download speed is suffering

Re: Firmware 6.14.2a4N_UNI causing ADSL drop outs?
Thank you. Please keep it all coming.
PPPoA = Point-to-Point Protocol over ATM
MER = MAC Encapsulated Routing
Essentially there is no major performance difference but there is the potential for reducing the costs overhead.

Re: Firmware 6.14.2a4N_UNI causing ADSL drop outs?
The should be no significant difference in your connection speed.
Normally the connection speed is affected a small amount if you reconnect at different times of the day. Late at night or early in the morning often produce the better connection speeds. This is partially related to the position of the Sun.

Re: Firmware 6.14.2a4N_UNI causing ADSL drop outs?
Hi scubbie.
Do you know if sky have, or are likely to halt the rollout of this new firmware?
Luckily, i still have:
Firmware Version 5.23.1a4N
ADSL Firmware Version A2pD030n.d23b
...And would like it to stay that way.
