Blocking an IP range
Hi there,
I have a issue regarding latency with my conection, due to the use of Spotify within my household. I'm not in a position to kill my family, so instead I'm trying to block the service via my modems firewall.
Morals aside, here's what I need to do to block Spotify:
Block the following IP-range: 78.31.8.0 MASK: 255.255.248.0
I read the information from the following link:
Nisses blog » Blog Archive » How to block Spotify on your network
How can I go about doing this? I'm looked in the modems settings but nothing allows me to 'Block the following IP-range: 78.31.8.0 MASK: 255.255.248.0'.
The modem I have is a Sagemcom F@ST2504N, and I'm using Sky Broadband Unlimited. I'm unaware of the modems firmware version.
All help is appreciated,
Thanks.

Re: Blocking an IP range
Firstly, create a custom service called spotify for port 4070 via Security > Services.
Next, navigate to Security > Firewall > Outbound
Create three new entries, each blocking IP range 78.31.8.0 - 78.31.15.255, for the following services. HTTP, HTTPS, and the Spotify service you just created.

'Create three new entries, each blocking IP range 78.31.8.0 - 78.31.15.255, for the following services. HTTP, HTTPS, and the Spotify service you just created.'
That can't be LAN/WAN users can it?
Anyone help?
Thanks.
edit
just tried anyway, wouldnt work. i seem to be lacking the option. could this be due to legacy firmware?Last edited by jaw2floor; 18-01-13 at 11:52 PM.

Re: Blocking an IP range
Have you tried using the Block Sites function on the router, this may be simpler than setting up firewall rules. If you put Spotify in the block box, this may do the job. Tried it on my router and it blocks access to Spotify pages. but that may not be sufficient to block downloading.
