Anyone Else Changed To PPPoA
ive just noticed my router is connecting via PPPoA rather than MER which it used to connect via, just wondering what the difference is and why the sudden change

Sky has been switching various ADSL connections back to PPPoA, instead of MER.
Others can use either MER or PPPoA, whilst a few a locked in to MER.
We don't know why this is happening, but it is really helpful for those who want to use their own routers.

cheers, didnt think it would be anything serious just was curious
im having enough bother with my phone and broadband already that is requiring an engineer on tues

No problem.
My own connection is on PPPoA, which is great for me. Currently there is only Billion who have compiled a firmware for use with Sky's MER connections. Everyone else needs to use PPPoA.
