Re: Moving to Sky from O2
I notice that you have what looks like the VDSL filtered faceplate there. Could you confirm this, or confirm if it is the iPlate?

Yeah I think it's vdsl, was told its latest one and supercedes all others. Is this wrong? It's working well, no diff now between this socket and test socket (on my old O2 router)
No resync in the early hours.

Re: Moving to Sky from O2
The VDSL faceplate would be the best one. It is a relatively new faceplate and has only become available via retail places in the last year or so.
Provided then that the wiring to the NTE5 socket is all in order (i.e. not loose, damaged, etc.) then there won't be a great deal more you can do to improve the connection speed.

When i had a noise issue, Zoe's report would always be "no echo & very little noise", even when it was so bad i could barely hear. Maybe it just doesn't detect a certain type of fault.
I found it helpful to have my stats on screen whilst using the phone.
It may not have always dropped, but the noise margins would often go haywire as soon as i made a test call.

I just thought it worth pointing out.
(No substitute for what your own senses are telling you)
My noise problem started off intermittent but was always obvious just by listening.
You may not have a noise issue, but i was intrigued by the drop you had that coincided with the 6pm test call you made.
During my fault, having the router stats on screen whilst using the phone would merely confirm things for me.

Ok, I'll do that tonight and post them.
When I was with O2 llu, sometimes the connection would drop when the phone rang, would reconnect during the phone call and then be ok. It was intermittent though.
There is quite a gentle hiss when using the idect phones. I put it down to an over amplification of the ambient noise in the house and I know idect phones do this.
On the corded phone in master socket I did hear this same hiss a little bit but It didn't make me think it was anything abnormal. There were however a couple of clicks during the quiet line test, i dismissed them as Zoe said the test was fine.

The other thing that I find confusing, approx line length on a 50db attenuation is 3.6km on the KITZ adsl speed calculator.
I'm only 1.6km from the CMCAN exchange. 2 whole km of turns and twists seems like a lot?
