on demand help!
we currently use orange as ISP, BT for phone line and SKY for TV. We dont seem to be able to get "on demand" despite visits from engineers, new box and several conversations with lovely (although ultimately unhelpful) SKY people. Any suggestions as to why it wont work? We have a linksys router. We thought all this could be fixed if we rationalised and got all our services through SKY but this couldnt be done over the phone (some sort of technical problem) and no-one has got back to us to tell us why and what we can do about it. If it wasnt for Sky Sports and a rugby-mad husband, we would be switching to BT.
Hope someone out there can help

Re: on demand help!
One thing that some non Sky users are finding is that if the Multiplexing is set to VC-Mux it will not work. Changing this to LLC based cures the problem. Try changing this in your router.

Re: on demand help!
Can you post what is reported in the Network section of the HD box?
Can you also confirm if the HD box is being recognised in the Attached Devices on the router?

Re: on demand help!
The network section says Fail
I don't think the router is recognising the sky box although there is nothing else wrong with the network ie our computers all have internet access

Re: on demand help!
Customer service! We have just had two incredibly frustrating phone calls with SKY. We contacted the on-line chat service - they said everything was ok but they suggested we contact SKY direct. I called and was passed to three different people, every time I had to explain the issue, until the last person hung up on me. We called again and have been passed through another three people. I really dont understand - we are trying hard to give SKY more money - we already pay them a small fortune for our tv - but no-one is taking responsibility for helping us. BT is looking more and more like a good option.

Re: on demand help!
Is DHCP being used to allocate an IP address for your Sky box or have you manually set an IP address? What IP address is the Sky box using?
