Broadband Speed + Stats Advice
Hi so I've been with Sky now for nearly a month and just wondering if some expert can take a quick look at my router stats to make sure that the speed I'm getting is the max my line can take. Although I am very happy with the speed I am getting, the reason why I asked this is because my friend who lives further up the street from me (further from exchange) his connection is synced at 22995 kbps and getting a test speed of around 19.5 to 21 meg.
Both connections are on ethernet and plugged into the test socket.
My Stats
Broadband Link Downstream Upstream Connection Speed 19995 kbps 1200 kbps Line Attenuation 17.0 dB 10.4 dB Noise Margin 7.3 dB 8.8 dB

Re: Broadband Speed + Stats Advice
ADSL2+ Speed Test
We estimate your line is capable of between 16mb to 24mb broadband on an ADSL2+ service.
This ADSL2 Line Speed Calculator is a best guess only, as to the broadband speed that maybe possible on your telephone line. The checker provides results of up to 24mb with the data that is made available to us. This is purely for indication only and should not be classed as the Line Speed that you would receive on any ADSL or LLU product from another ISP.
Your throughput is always between 85%-95% of the actual sync speed the router reports, you're about 90%. This is my opinion, might worth waiting for a second opinion. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. I meant both connections are via Ethernet, don't know why I said wireless lol

Re: Broadband Speed + Stats Advice
You could ask Sky to run DLM training on your line, this may increase your download speed. Your upload speed is unlikely to improve, with a maximum of 1.3Mb, 1.2Mb is about as good as it gets.

Re: Broadband Speed + Stats Advice
Just rang up Sky and they've put my line on the DLM process which will take 10 days to complete. Will update this with the results.

Re: Broadband Speed + Stats Advice
Watch for a resync of the WAN in the early hours of the morning, this will confirm that DLM is running and that you have not just been fobbed off.

Re: Broadband Speed + Stats Advice
Have checked my stats today and my WAN has been reset. Problem now is my stats are lower than what they were before;
Broadband Link Downstream Upstream Connection Speed 16380 kbps 1116 kbps Line Attenuation 17.0 dB 10.3 dB Noise Margin 6.1 dB 10.10 dB
Will my stats get better or go back to how they were in the coming 10 days or should I ring Sky and tell them about this?

Re: Broadband Speed + Stats Advice
No, there's no need to ring sky.
From my experience of reading stats on the forum, if a line is already above 16 meg, DLM usually starts off on 16380.
Mine did & then gradually increased over the next few days.
