DLM now completed on my line and these are the results;
Whilst downloading I've gotten speeds of 2.4 MB/S from Steam
Broadband Link Downstream Upstream Connection Speed 22013 kbps 1200 kbps Line Attenuation 17.0 dB 10.4 dB Noise Margin 3.6 dB 9.9 dB

I'm jealous ! Your problem may have been caused by a random line fault somewhere in the line, or some bursts of noise which made the DLM react. I always found Sky's DLM to be far too 'twitchy', which is why I migrated to BE, where you can set your own noise margin (if you're on the right package).
