DLM has now finished and I've been left with the following
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream Connection Speed 2559 kbps 604 kbps Line Attenuation 63.0 dB 39.1 dB Noise Margin 5.4 dB 12.7 dB

That's pretty good considering the high attenuation. Whilst the ADSL checkers are a rough guide, they do indicate you should expect more, so think this could be a line issue, which may or may not be fixable.

Been onto sky having do further tests they are going to send an Openreach engineer at the end of this week as the speed should be higher according to sky

I would suggest that you perhaps do some research using the measuring tool on Google Earth.
Find out where your street cabinet is and workout the potential route that your telephone cable may take to your Telephone Exchange. Then using the measure tool see how long it is and punch the distance in to the tool available on this forum:

Having received a call from Sky last night they are still unable to work out why the speed is not faster they say I should be getting around 5 Mpbs I am now connected to the socket as normal
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream Connection Speed 2574 kbps 855 kbps Line Attenuation 63.0 dB 39.0 dB Noise Margin 6.2 dB 7.2 dB
This is what I got via the test socket yesterday
