Re: help with broadband?
If when you are using the Test socket your Internet connection drops when someone answers the telephone then it sounds like there is a line fault.
Call Sky Talk (I assume that they are your line provider) and explain what is happening and ask for a BTO Engineer to be arranged to fix it for you.
Please be prepared for them to do some tests to confirm this with you.
I think this kind of fault is known as a "High Resistance fault" and it occurs when one of the two telephone wires are shorting. The short can be anywhere between your home and the telephone exchange.

Re: help with broadband?
Without looking at the specific cause of the fault in your case, it would be impossible to say why it has happened.
Since a short in general can be caused by something as simple as a piece of wire which could be from something cut off from another connection or perhaps a connector which is breaking, it could be really simple to identify and fix.
