Re: Sky broadband router speed drops
Just stumbled across this thread. I have similar stats to you and this is what I receive:
Down: 4476 kbps || Atten: 54db || Noise: 7db - 10db
Up: 798 kbps || Atten: 32db || Noise: 8db
Network Type: PPPoA (both)
I'm using the DG934G and have used the DG834GT, both SKY firmwares. My connection was fine with both, no speed drops.
Seeing as you have been in contact with SKY they would have run you through the router reset and all that speel? Have you done a router reset without re-uploading your configuration file, if any?
Alternatively, I would be inclined to suggest that it is a line issue. Try and force this onto the CST and get Openreach or whomever your line rental is with to get the master socket replaced. This improved my stats, but the SKY team said they could hear crackling on the line, I couldn't?
This is a strange situation indeed.

Re: Sky broadband router speed drops
Cant really see this being a line issue. If it was it would be happening on all routers. I've used my laptop to directly connect into the BT main socket and its the same. As I've been able to do this it also rules out it being anything to do with the Desktop I normally use.

Re: Sky broadband router speed drops
Check this thread. Another user has reported that once plugging in the Sky Hub prior to their fibre install their speed halved: http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-b...tml#post395957.

Re: Sky broadband router speed drops
The thing is, if it only connects at 1 meg (as opposed to 3meg with the netgear) will leaving it plugged in for a few days make any difference?

Re: Sky broadband router speed drops
I doubt it, if there was a rise in the noise margin it might, but according to what you have posted there is not. The noise margin is a bit high, but as it is the same on both routers, I can't see it making any difference if it were properly configured. I really think Sky need to bring in their 'big guns' on this, as it is a very strange problem.
You probably have done, but did you change the ADSL cable when you changed the routers? If noy try another cable, you never know, it may just be the problem.

Re: Sky broadband router speed drops
Thanks for this, Yes, I've changed all the cables and the filters...even used a different PC to no avail. If I could just get a handle on what could be coursing the problem let alone fix it I'd be happy. It's thrown Sky completely, I've had their techies lining up to watch it in action...none of them, even those with vast experience can't even guess at whats happening... life just gets betterer and betterr.
