Slow 2MB connection with a high noise
Hi,
First time poster so please be nice.
I have been with Sky for a few months now and noticed that my speed has been up and down. Some days I have 4 but the majority its stuck at 2MB. Router statistics show the following
System Up Time: 0:22:21
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time WAN PPPoA 6880 6872 0 46 0 0:05:42 LAN Up 20046 18626 0 7955 1478 0:22:21 WLAN Up 547 99 0 10 7 0:22:03 ADSL Link Downstream Upstream Connection Speed 2560 kbps 510 kbps Line Attenuation 41.5 dB 29.1 dB Noise Margin 16.6 dB 9.0 dB
I think the Line Attenuation and Noise Margin are excessive but I dont know if that is just me. What would I need to do to fix this. My modem is plugged into the master socket. Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Slow 2MB connection with a high noise
Could you plug just a corded telephone into the Master socket, dial '1' and listen carefully.
Ideally it should be reasonably quiet. If you hear a lot of hissing or crackling then you have a line fault which needs to be reported to Sky.
If you just hear a high pitched noise, like a fax machine, then this is fine.
