BATHGATE (ESBAT) Exchange Congested

Hi guys

Just another wee heads up on yet another SKY congested exchange.

Just had confirmation from the SKY Networks Team that Bathgate (ESBAT) exchange is suffering from localised congestion issues. I discovered this as I was trying to obtain a resolution date for my exchange problems, Fauldhouse (ESFAU). It turns out that Bathgate is the parent exchange that serves Fauldhouse, via a 100MB backhaul pipe. According to the representative I spoke to, the upgrade date for Bathgate is November 2012 , but nothing has been set for Fauldhouse as yet. Looks like I will be waiting quite a while before I can expect any kind of normal service.

A single 100MB backhaul doesn't sound a lot. If you get 5 people with my connection speed, you can guarantee that it would be saturated. I suspect that the actual backhaul will be considerably larger.

As for the date, 3 months sounds a long time, but at least you know that it will happen. i suspect that BTO are still catching up after the 3 months of rain & floods. A lot of engineers were pulled from the Fibre roll out to address this issue. From what I have heard, other services were affected too.

Thats what I thought too when the SKY Networks advisor said 100MB. Apparently the plan is to increase that up to 1GB?

Hold on, I have fallen for the classic mistake here.

I connect at 20mb (i.e. ~2MB). So you could have 50 connections like mine without any problem.

1GB should be able to cope with a significantly larger number. Of course when you get Fibre, someone will have to look at this again.

Could this also be connected to me lose connection to exchange every day now for the last 2 weeks .
