Re: Increase my Upload Speed?
You need Inssider, link below, this will show the channels in use in your area. As well as the main channels, Channel 13 is often good, especially in a busy wireless area, as very few ISPs recommend it. They prefer to stick to the American recommendations of 1, 6 and 11.
Sorry, Gymno, I didn't turn the page.Last edited by Isitme; 17-10-12 at 02:17 PM.

Re: Increase my Upload Speed?
Thanks everyone for your help!
I have downloaded Inssider and it says that people are on either Channels 1, 6, 7 or 11. I was on 11 so have now changed to 13 as suggested by Isitme. Is this right? Am I just looking for clear channels which are not being used in my area?Last edited by superpav; 17-10-12 at 08:31 PM.

Re: Increase my Upload Speed?
Ideally you are looking for a channel which is 3 clear of any in use, which it appears you do not have available. 13 is probably your best bet,
When you look at the amplitude(dbm) chart on Inssider, you are looking for the channel which gives you the lowest amplitude. That is the one with the lowest number, yours will be shown in green and preferably should be the highest one the graph indicating it has the best signal.
In the following graph the orange line is the best signal. The blue and purple are using channel bonding.

Re: Increase my Upload Speed?
I am not sure why you are only seeing 22mbps, you should be seeing 54mbps with your G router. What speed does it show at your PC?
You might want to Backup your router settings and reset your router. That often helps with little glitches.

Re: Increase my Upload Speed?
How do I test what speed it shows at my PC?
If you are using Win 7/Vista, go to the Network and Sharing Centre, click Change adapter settings on the left. Highlight the wireless adapter and click the 'View status of this connection' in the Menu bar. This will give you the details. In XP right click the adapter and choose Status for the same pane.

Re: Increase my Upload Speed?
I have an Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection, the Wireless Network Connection Status says Speed:54.0 Mbps and the Signal Strength has 5 fully green bars.
On inssider I have noticed that someone else has a Sky router (Netgear) and it says they too have a Max Rate of 22.
