Losing connection constantly
New to the forum and really frustrated with Sky at the moment.
When ever I head to a web page which has quite large images or a lot of images, it causes my connection to crash and I have to unplug the power to my router and re-plug it back in. This also happens when downloading files it does exactly the same thing.
I originally thought it was due to my old PC but having bought a new PC and the same happening I'm tearing my hair out. I am using a wired connection because my PC is too far away from the router to pick up a wireless connection.
I will try and give as much info as I can:
Other laptops are running wireless and don't have the same problem.
I have no problem gaming wireless either it only seems to be the wired connection that is the problem.
I have a sagem router (unsure of which one)
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Losing connection constantly
There is not much wrong with your stats, so look at your PC for the problem. First thing to do is find out the manufacturer of your LAN card, go to their site and download and install the latest drivers. Do not take any notice if Windows says your drivers are up to date, it is very often wrong, apart from that they could be corrupted. You can find out the manufacturer of the various parts of your PC by downloading and using Everest. Download Everest Home Edition 2.20 Free - Everest Home Edition - a freeware system information, system diagnostics and benchmarking solution - Softpedia

Re: Losing connection constantly
Thanks for all the help so far, I tried a different port and no luck. One think I noticed today whilst downloading it cut out, then 5 mins later came back on but during this time I still had a wireless connection. Totally confused

Re: Losing connection constantly
Do you mean you had still got an internet connection with wireless when the LAN disconnected? You will stillhave a wireless connection to the router even if the internet is down.
If your internet is staying up with wireless and goes down with ethernet, it is possible the LAN switch in the router is faulty. Next time it happens can you connect one of the laptops by ethernet and see if it is working? Remember to turn of the wireless on the laptop to be sure you are actually using ethernet.
