Poor Connection - Wiring problem?
We only recently moved back to sky and have had some speed and stability issues with their broadband. I phoned them today and we discovered that we were getting a lot of interference, the technician on the phone said we had over 5million errors whilst we were talking (about 30 mins). She suggested we remove any extensions and connect the router directly to the master socket which we did. However the results were the same.
When the engineer came out to install the broadband he mentioned that there was a problem with our line so he went up to our attic and sorted it. We thought maybe that's what's causing the interference so we took a picture of the box and it looks pretty bad. Could this be what's causing our problems? Also there was no cover, it was left open like this.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Edit: Here's our router statistics. Our line should have about 10mb down.
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream Connection Speed 5023 kbps 797 kbps Line Attenuation 36.5 dB 23.5 dB Noise Margin 13.3 dB 16.5 dB

Re: Poor Connection - Wiring problem?
The connection is untidy but OK. It looks like one of your extensions has been disconnected. Do you have any other extensions attached to the master socket?
A picture of the inside of the master socket may be helpful.
As you say you should get 10-11Mb and you have probably enough noise margin to allow this. Does this noise margin decrease at any time? Try downloading and using Routerstats Lite to check how your margin is behaving. RouterStats -Lite

Okay, i'll try that tool. Thanks for your help. Also i'll update with a picture of the master socket when i get a chance.
Edit: As for the extensions. One has been disconnected. However that's not a problem, we only need one.
