Re: Upgraded To Unlimited But Slower Speeds!
When I was on ADSL2+ my line attenuation was 59.5dB and I could only get 3mbps with a 7-8dB noise margin, so unless you have a fault (be it internal or external) I don't see where you are getting the 14mbps figure from. If it was from the Sky sales team then you were lied to.
What does it say if you put your address into this http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ADSLChecker.address ?
Copy and paste the results by using the Ctrl + C then V keyboard short-cut since you cannot right click on that page. Just be sure to edit your address out before posted the reply.

For some reason that link does not work - but if you go to http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/ and then on the address checker it comes up with the same URL as you pasted.. weird.
Just letting the OP know.

Re: Upgraded To Unlimited But Slower Speeds!
No problem with my landline.
I'm on ADSL.
14mb is what I got off this site. Regardless if it's 14 or 20, I know unlimited is no faster - but it is painfully slow to the point YouTube videos keep buffering - I had quicker speeds 5-6 years ago!
The site doesn't work, presumably because I have Sky Line rather than BT.

Re: Upgraded To Unlimited But Slower Speeds!
Use the link they guy underneath my last reply posted since my link doesn't work for some reason.
You have to use your postcode with that checker since phone number checks don't work on sky lines.
If it still doesn't work then try this one ::. Kitz - ADSL line and exchange checker .:: and look at the "BT Line Speed Estimation " section.

Re: Upgraded To Unlimited But Slower Speeds!
From this site for a 65db attenuation.-
We estimate your line is capable of between 2mb to 3mb broadband on an ADSL2+ service.
Unless you have a serious fault on your line you will never get 14Mb. What did you get with Light?

Re: Upgraded To Unlimited But Slower Speeds!
I never actually checked with Lite, it seems to have got slower in the past month or so (I only upgraded a couple of days ago).
That checker said I was 2.48km direct/4.67km road from the exchange point - was this the info you were asking for?

Re: Upgraded To Unlimited But Slower Speeds!
This confirms that you cannot get anything near 14mbps with your line. The lower speeds you have had since switching to unlimited are likely a result of DLM (Dynamic line management) re-running and detecting noise/errors on your line that might not have been present when you originally got Sky broadband Lite.
The only way to really get your sync speeds back is to contact Sky directly on their official forums where it is possible for a rep to manually configure your line and turn DLM off if it continues to cause problems. I had that done when I was on ADSL2+ and was able to keep a stable 3mbps sync (my line is a little shorter than yours).
However this is all assuming that it is not an internal wiring problem, or maybe an external issue.

Re: Upgraded To Unlimited But Slower Speeds!
I'll get onto them to try that.
If it is an internal/external wiring issue though - is there anyway I could detect this myself?
