Wi-Fi Keeps Disconnecting- Help Needed!
Last week I was having some real issues with my wifi dropping on Sky Broadband Unlimited every 5 mins or so and only connecting intermittently after. The wifi network was always present, you just couldn't connect to it.
Broadband itself was working fine if you plugged into it using the Ethernet connection so no issues there. Numerous calls to Sky made me do all the normal checks like reseting it, changing the channel, etc and none of them worked so blamed the router itself. Fair enough I thought, it was a few years old so I picked up another one (same Sky model) from a second hand store and once I'd got it unlocked by Sky, it worked fine.
Tonight however the same problem has returned. Every few mins it disconnects every device connected and you have to wait again a while for it to come back.
Any ideas? It's making me go a bit mental. Can too many devices trying to connect cause this kind of problem? We have 3 laptops, 3 iphones and 2 ipads in the house Nothing has changed in terms of setup or positioning.

Did you swap the PSUs over as well as the routers?
If you did, do you have another suitable PSU around to try? Most routers tend to use the same specification, but do check first.

Re: Wi-Fi Keeps Disconnecting- Help Needed!
The early Sagem 2504s had an issue with PSUs failing. Sky changed it for a better PSU but they can still occasionally fail.
Also have you changed any other settings in the router? i.e port forwarding, site blocking, IP Address allocation, Wireless access list, etc.

No other settings changed. I reset all settings on both routers but the problem persists.
Can too many devices trying to connect affect things? As I said everything works fine via Ethernet.

Could you download and install inSSIDer please?
inSSIDer – Discover The Wi-Fi Around You | MetaGeek
This will help you to see if there are other WiFi routers nearby, but there could be other things affecting the signal.
Some other things which could be interfering with the WiFi signal include microwave ovens, video senders, DECT telephones and the TV.
Could you also download and install "Netgear Genie"? I've found this to be useful and the connection recovery works on the Sky router I'm using at the moment.
NETGEAR Genie
Most of the functions won't work, but the Network map works as well. The app is available for the iPhone & iPad but I wouldn't suggest you use it on them. My Android phone's version doesn't work on the Sky router. It is the PC version that does work.
