Re: Given up on Sky support, please help?
Thanks Gigabit, had a look at Xilo using my phone number and they can offer me a 2GB home service, or a "Up to 24MB" Pro Service - is this latter option the LLU one do you think? Or would the speed that Pro gets be the same as the home packages, just with a different name.. I wonder. I am looking to use the talktalk / LLU option if it'll get a half decent speed with high/no usage caps. In short I don't really want a 2MB connection if I can avoid it; I am happy to pay silly money for a faster connection actually - is the Pro option the answer to my prayers I wonder?

This may be the case, but would you not agree that most calls should be relatively easy to resolve and be directed towards the first line of Sky's support teams?

Re: Given up on Sky support, please help?
Have been in several Connect posts but still very confused about this - to recap: at my exchange TalkTalk LLU is offered, I currently have 2MB/s connection speed through Sky Connect, does that mean I will be getting the same, or a higher speed if I use Xilo/TT/similar LLU offering?

Re: Given up on Sky support, please help?
With an attenuation of 47.5 dB I would expect to see speeds at about 7meg (I am on 49ish and achieve this speed) Your attenuation is better than mine.
Have you tried getting the stats from your Master Socket?
How to test your ADSL in the Master Test Socket - Sky User - The unofficial support forum for everything Sky!
But I would also echo what others have said already, Connect is dire.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Re: Given up on Sky support, please help?
I am going to be giving up on Connect in all likelihood. So it turns out that LLU should result in faster speeds - TalkTalk's website is quoting me 2MB/s with LLU though ?! I tried the postcode/phone number for a local business about a mile away near the exchange and the TalkTalk website is quoting them 12MB/s. Is this realistic? I am trying to see what sort of realistic speeds I'd be getting - you say 7MB? Honestly, I'd be very happy with 7MB or anything above 4MB in fact.
I have not tested max speeds in the master socket, will do that tonight.

Attenuation of 47.5 dB is effectively your line length. Short of moving house, you ain't going to improve that.
Have you tried the test socket?
I would defo expect to see a line speed increase somewhere along the line.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Re: Given up on Sky support, please help?
I've connected the modem to the test socket, if that's what you mean. I've done it several times as that's all Sky support seem to want me to do. It seems incredible that a house a mile down the road can get 6x faster internet than me on the same line and exchange.
Again to reiterate I'm not seeing 2MB/s or anything close to it, I download things at 10kb/s currently. It's completely useless and has been since day one. I can't even come to this forum while at home to post without waiting 20s for it to load. It's useless and I've exhausted all my options with Sky, I just want to change now and am looking for advice on which company to move to... Bit confused about possible speeds is all. 2MB? 5MB? 7MB? Not sure which one I can expect.
According to this website: http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php I should be expecting to get 5.8 MB/s.

Re: Given up on Sky support, please help?
I have connected it to the test socket, taken out all microfilters, switched microfilters, had Openreach out twice, had several callbacks from 'executive' support team at Sky (useless), removed the bell wire, been into the firmware countless times, switched DNS, etc etc. Nothing works. It's always a "its BTs problem" then BT say "it's sky's problem, they're throttling you".
I don't want to bother with Sky Connect anymore, their usage caps are not the sort of thing I usually go for. I want to keep the Sky Talk and get my MAC code and switch to a TalkTalk LLU reseller, or even TalkTalk itself. If someone can please advise me on that I'd be very grateful, regarding the speeds. TalkTalk are saying 2MB/s, Vivaciti are saying 5MB/s, then NeasreadeR said I should be getting 7MB :S . Then Xilo are saying "up to 16MB" on their Pro Package - but I have no ADSL2+ or 21CN here AFAIK so not sure what that's about?
So I'm a bit lost.
