Re: Is Sky broadband unlimited truly unlimited?
Morning,
Yes I believe so.. I've never been told off. I download pretty much 24/7 on USENET limited to 5mbps and I still watch Iplayer and stuff at the same time. I also use it to power my Apple TV so It's in use a lot of the time.
I've removed my DU Meter on my machine as I don't believe I need it now.
I've also been doing hourly speedtests. I've yet to see any slowdown even on a sunday evening. I only have 7mbps but I am fine with that.
I'm happy to stay with Sky until such time (if I am lucky) my cab gets a lovely new one next to it for fibre. I've heard it's possible as our exchange has 21K houses on it. Our Cab is close. It's next door to next door so I would say it's about 8-10 metres away. Luckily it means for the gain I would get it's not worth buying next door too
But yes for £7.50 a month It's absolutely Brill.

Yes I also rape my bandwidth with downloads.
And even more since having Anytime +
Never been told off and I would say I am a heavy user.

Re: Is Sky broadband unlimited truly unlimited?
Sky (in an e-mail) told me (in the nicest way) there was no need to e-mail them to ask if I was using too much. They said they don't monitor it so they don't care.
The guy said " Even if you were doing 5TB a month we wouldn't be bothered"
I respect his honestly. Okay so the e-mail was not as professional as some would have liked but for me bugger that - the guy was being honest and clearly pleasant so I don't mind

Re: Is Sky broadband unlimited truly unlimited?
There are some issues in some areas at the moment, but Sky are working to fix these.
As for Sky purposefully slowing down a connection because you are personally doing too much, provided that you are on the Unlimited products, which judging from your profile, clearly you are not, then they do not slow you down.
Personally speaking I hammered my connection last November. I managed to squeeze over 2TB in traffic through my connection. If I had really wanted to push it, I know that I could have. Another member privately confirmed that they had downloaded over 3TB during one month.
Last month I managed to squeeze over 600GB of traffic (463GB up/162GB down = 625GB).
I am not an employee of Sky. If I were then the O/T payments would be fantastic.
At no time has my connection been slowed down as a result of doing too much. My connection stats are in my signature.
This isn't me attempting to brag. It is me showing that Sky does not throttle your connection at all.
As for car salesmen...

Re: Is Sky broadband unlimited truly unlimited?
I wonder if ISP's have the technology to throttle on an individual basis? Just makes me wonder because most always assume that all will have the same symptoms and at the same time if throttling occurs.

Re: Is Sky broadband unlimited truly unlimited?
When I left Virgin I had done 6.9TB in the month. But I knew I was leaving. I have the screenshot somewhere.
